Bill M. Blackard, 75, 1616 Fairfield Avenue, Kingsport, died Wednesday (May 11, 1994) at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center after a short illness.


A native of Hiltons, Va., he was a resident of Kingsport most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and a retired employee of Eastman Chemical Company after 35-1/2 years of service.


He attended Agape Life Christian Fellowship.


He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Blackard; one daughter, Sharon Kay Blackard; and two brothers, Jess and Allen Blackard; two sisters, Mamie Curtis and Alice Houser; and one niece.


Surviving are his wife, Doris Blackard, Kingsport; one daughter, Sheila Tyler, Kingsport; one son, Bill Wayne Blackard, Greeneville; three sisters, Mrs. Ambrose (Elsie) Clonce Sr., Weber City, Va., Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth) Carr, Blountville and Mrs. John (Fay) Wiseman, Bluff City; one granddaughter; one brother, James Sylvester 'Syl' Blackard, Johnson City; several nieces and nephews.


Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and anytime at the home.


Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Larry K. Nelson officiating.


Military graveside honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holston View Cemetery by the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3.
