On July 1, 1849 at Zwollerkerspel, Albert m. 1) Johanna Klasiena Bosch, dau. of Jan Bosch and Gesiena van Lente, b. Aug. 19, 1822. She d. Sept. 11, 1857 at Zwollerkerspel. The number of surviving children of the marriage is unclear, but included John A. Westerhoff (1856-1913) of Grand Rapids, MI.
On Apr. 21, 1859 at Zwolle, Province of Overijssel, Albert m. 2) Hermanna Johanna "Amanda" van den Bosch, dau. of Godefridus [Godfrey] van den Bosch and Luitje, b. Dec 31, 1832. She d. On Apr. 14, 1865 aboard the Edinburg from Liverpool, England, Albertes, wife Hermanna, and five children of the family arrived through the Port of New York. In the record their nationality is erroneously called "German" probably due to the preponderance of Germans that were mutually immigrating aboard the same ship and that Albertes' surname was assumed to be German:
Main Steerage; Passengers No. 243-9
Westerhoff, A., 43, M
Westerhoff, Herman(na], 25, F, Wife
Westerhoff, Jas., 14, M, Youth
Westerhoff, John, 7, Child
Westerhoff, Anne, 6, F, Child
Westerhoff, Alberta, 4, F, Child
Westerhoff, Julia, 1, F, Child
By 1870 the family had settled at Grand Haven, Ottawa County, Michigan, with Ottawa County dominated by other Dutch immigrant families. At least six more named children of the family were b. at Grand Haven. At her death in 1908, "Amanda" is stated to have given birth to 14 children, of which only 5 were then living.
