William Sanders Dead.
William J. Sanders, of 22 North E. street, died at the family home at 4:10 o'clock this morning. The cause of his death was paralysis. Mr. Sanders suffered a stroke of paralysis on Sunday and he was in a critical condition all that day and all day yesterday, death claiming him at an early hour this morning. The deceased was a native of Kentucky, having been born in Bolan county, in 1825. He was aged 89 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Hall in 1846 and to this union twelve children were born, five of whom are still living. The children are Mrs. Margarete J. Kellams, of Clinton, Mo., W.I. Sanders, of Arkansas City, Mrs. Sarah Nowles, of Illinois, Doug Sanders, late of Illinois, but now a resident of this city, and Mrs. Nora Benbrook, of Kaw City, Oklahoma, Mrs. Nowles is the only one who is not here to attend the funeral. Mr. Sanders also leaves a wife to mourn his death. The deceased was a veteran of the civil war, having served three years in Company A, 73rd Illinois regiment. He was mustered out in June, 1862. He was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. He came to Arkansas City in the fall of 1883 and has since resided here. In the early days he was employed by the Santa Fe here. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the residence at 3 o'clock. Burial will take place in Riverview cemetery.
