Harrison Roach was born in Beattyville, Lee County, Kentucky. Somewhere around 1930, the family moved to Williamsdale, Butler County, Ohio. Grandpa Roach would always come and get me during the summer to take me fishing at the Old fishing pond there in Seven Mile across from the Block Plant. He always grew a garden and either he brought us produce from his garden or we would go visit him and he would give us produce. Grandpa and Hazel Marie Baker lived together ever since I could remember and they were finally married in 1973. I remember that my Mother had written me a letter informing me that my Grandfather had passed away due to my being station at Camp New Amsterdam, The Netherlands while serving in the US Air Force.
