Mary Seale Etheridge, 87, was called home from this life on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. Mrs. Etheridge was born November 18, 1927, in Meadville, MS to Lanon B. and Carmen Olivia Holt Seale.

Visitation will be at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville, MS on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at 2:30 PM. The graveside service will follow in Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS. Rev. Bart Houston will officiate the services. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She attended public schools in Franklin County and graduated from Meadville High School in 1946. She wanted to help the war efforts while in high school, so she crocheted hundreds of sweaters for the service men and gave them to the Red Cross. She attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College, Delta State University and Austin Community College in Austin, TX. She worked for many years for farm credit companies in Texas and Mississippi. She retired from Production Credit Association. After returning to Bude, she enrolled at Southwest MS Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies in May 2002 at the age of 74. At graduation she was cited for her achievement by then Lt. Governor Amy Tuck, the graduation speaker. She chose to continue her education at SMCC enrolling in the medical billing and coding program. She was active in campus activities at Southwest, participating in the fun walks at homecoming, supporting the Bear Trackers (student ambassador group) and participating as an honorary member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic society for community college students. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bude and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is preceded in death by parents, Lanon B. and Carmen Olivia Holt Seale; and her sister, Martha Olivia Seale Clanton. Survivors are her sister, Norma Seale Leonard of Meadville, MS; nephews, Harold Leonard and wife Anita of Meadville, MS, and David Clanton and wife Janie of Meadville, MS; nieces, Angela Clanton Houston and husband Bart of Meadville, MS, and Kim Clanton Smith and husband Danny of McCall Creek, MS; special caregivers, Bill, Betty, and Ryan Johnson of Summit, MS; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Trivette Leonard, Harold Leonard, David Clanton, Ryan Johnson, Cody Priest, and Lamar Clanton.
