Lois M. Bayless, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Ashford Place Health Campus.

She was born Jan. 27, 1924, to Roy Abel Bayless and Missouri (Bentley) Bayless in Noble Township, Shelby County.


Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Deloris Sorrell, Larry Dale, Sara Jo Robinson, Linda Everhart, Morris Dale, Jim Dale, Janice Ruffin, Joyce Jones, Nancy Seitz, Susan Houston, Bill Gross, John Bayless, Tom Bayless, Kenny Bayless, Mike Bayless, Jennifer Bayless, Joel Bayless and Candice Bayless.


She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Paul, Edwin, John, Robert, Dick and Harry Bayless; three sisters, Zelma Bayless, Elizabeth Dale and Martha Gross; and five nieces and nephews.


Miss Bayless was a lifetime resident of the area. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1942, and attended Indiana University School of Nursing.


She was a medical transcriptionist at Inlow Clinic, retiring in 1980 after 33 years of service.


Miss Bayless was a member of West Street United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for 14 years.


Lois enjoyed attending annual class reunions, polio reunions and nursing class reunions. She was an avid IU basketball fan and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, knitting, shopping and reading.


Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.


Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Ewick officiating.


Burial will be at Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to West Street UMC or the donor's favorite charity in care of the funeral home.
