Ardis graduated from Beresford High School in 1944. She married Vernon Edman on April 22, 1949 in Elk Point, SD. The couple farmed until Vernon’s passing in 1965. Ardis and her family moved to Beresford where she worked at various retail establishments including Knutson’s Western Wear until her retirement. After retiring, Ardis was a volunteer at the Civic Center.
Ardis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the outdoors and attending Circle at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, daughter Debbie, sister Fern, brother Merle and a great grandson Peyton Goblirsch.
She is survived by two daughters, Corinne (Larry) Young, Alcester and Beverly (Brad) McCoy, Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Sheri (Daryl) Zweifel, Kimberly Goblirsch, Justin (Megan) Vandervorste, Jeff (fiance Stephanie) Vandervorste, Kaity (Ben) Sebern and Tiffany McCoy; 8 great grandchildren, Rebecca Donnelly, Randy, Ryan and Reilly Zweifel, Parker, Kennedy and Jake Goblirsch and Maden Vandervorste; one great, great grandchild, Nevan Donnelly; 3 brothers, Glen (Marlene) Twedt, Russell (Arlene) Twedt and Doug (Ardis) Twedt; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Ardis Edman family would like to extend and special “Thank You” to the staff at Bethesda Nursing Home for the excellent care Ardis received there and for making it her home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 1, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with burial to follow at Brooklyn Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
