Betty Cabaniss Winston, 78, of Brookneal, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at home. She was the wife of the late George Alexander Winston. Betty was born in Campbell County, February 14, 1937, daughter of the late Hugh Howard Cabaniss and Vena Myrtle Allen Cabaniss. She was a member of Hat Creek Presbyterian Church, loved gardening and the outdoors. She is survived by two sons, Tim A. Winston (Jackie) of Rustburg, and George Nelson Winston (Pam) of Brookneal; five grandchildren, Christopher Winston (Ashley) of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Kari Winston of Rustburg, Holly Winston Mitchell (Roger) of Rustburg, Kay-Dee Winston Cruz (Chris) of Brookneal, Sarah Johnson (Randall) of Concord; and 14 great-grandchildren.A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Hat Creek Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Reggie Warren with interment to follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends following the service in the church and at the residence other times.
