Shreveport, LA-Edward Kenneth “Ken” Nelson, Jr., age 68, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Gamble Guest Care Spring Lake after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. A Memorial Service to be officiated by Rev. Jim Freeman will be held at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church at a later date and time to be announced.
Ken was a native and for the majority of his life a resident of Shreveport. He was a lifelong member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. Ken graduated from C.E. Byrd High School, attended LSU Baton Rouge and graduated with a BS degree in Accounting from Northeast Louisiana University. He worked in Accounting in Dallas with Arkla Gas and later in Shreveport for a number of local businesses after returning to care for his parents and Aunt.
Ken was preceded in death by his Father, Edward Kenneth Nelson, Sr.; his Mother, Ouida Watters Nelson; his Aunt Juanita “Jay” Watters; his Brother-in-law, Jerry F. Davis; and his Nephew, Brian Taylor Davis. Ken is survived by his Sister, Evelyn Nelson Davis, Baton Rouge; and his Cousins, Claudia Nelson of Shreveport and Bob Watters of Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Broadmoor Presbyterian Church or R. & L. Ministries Association, Springfield, Mo.
The family and friends would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the loving care provided Ken during the last stages of his battle with Alzheimer’s by Lillie Black, Allen Semien, Jr., Tina Stanford, the Administration and Staff of Gamble Guest Care Spring Lake and Willis-Knighton Hospital, South.
