"MRS. RITTENHOUSE DIED SUNDAY NIGHT
At Her Home on Monroe Street in Xenia...Formerly Lived at Bowersville -
Mrs. David Rittenhouse, one of the old residents of Greene county, passed away on Sunday night at 11:30 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Benson, of Monroe street. She had been a sufferer of dropsy and heart trouble and had been confined to her bed for the past month.
She was born in 1835 and was thus about 70 years of age. Most of her life had been spent in Bowersville and vicinity, where she was well known and many friends throughout that section will be pained to learn of her death. She had been a resident of this city only since last spring moving here with the family from Bowersville.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Benson at whose home she died, Mrs. Lester Ary, of Monroe street, this city, Mrs. James Riley, of Springfield, and Wm. T. Rittenhouse of Bloomington. The deceased was a member of the M.P. church of Bowersville.
Further notice of the funeral arrangements will be made."
Thanks to Maureen, Mike, Nicki, Joan, and Roger for all the help locating this burial.
