Minnie Lemke was born in Germany December 21, 1861. She came with her parents to America at the age of nine, settling in Pennsylvania, where they lived for about two years, then coming to Douglas county and homesteaded in Carlos township, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Fred Miller October 27, 1882 in Carlos, where they lived for about four years, then coming to Hudson township, where Mr. Miller bought land, and except at intervals, this has since continued to be their home.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Miller, all of whom survive: George of Hudson twp.; Mary (Mrs. John Pero) of Brainerd, Frank of Alexandria township; Emil of Hudson township; Rosie (Mrs. Emil Anderson) of Spruce Hill, Fred of Hudson township; Herman of Hudson township; Minnie (Mrs. Adolph Bush) of Hudson township; Villey (Mrs. Wm. Dyrud) of Osakis.
Mrs. Miller died Aug. 20 at St. Mary's hospital at Rochester, being 73 years, 7 months and 29 days at the time of her death. She also leaves to mourn, two brothers, Ernest of Miltona, August of Hudson, and one sister, Amelia Miller of Wisconsin; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 25 from the Anderson Funeral Home, Rev. O. O. Gustafson officiating. Interment in Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were: John Fisher, William Fisher, Henry Kapphahn, Herman Lemke, John Iverson, John Taylor.
