MARTHA ELIZABETH BENTON was the daughter of SAMUEL CROWELL BENTON & MARY HUNTER. She first married Gen. James Cantey in 1858 and secondly RICHARD HENRY BELLAMY in 1875 after the death of Gen. Cantey. (She & Bellamy were double first cousins, no issue.)

Her Cantey children were: SAMUEL BENTON CANTEY, JOHN CANTEY, & MARY MARTHA CANTEY who married James Cantey Alexander.
