John Crowell, owner of one of the South's most important racing stables, situated on vast acreage in Alabama." 'John Bascombe' Portrait by Edward Troye. Mary Cantey Alexander inherited this painting by TROYE as well as others. Alabama Heritage Magazine, June 2006 has a good article on Edward Troye. She was Dau. of JAMES W. CANTEY & MARTHA ELIZABETH BENTON.
