IN MEMORIAM. “She was our neighbor yesterday, She dwells today with God.” Mrs. Mary M. Hale, daughter of Hugh S. and Pauline Wells, the wife of Franklin B. Hale, died at her home in Osceola Sept. 30, 1915. Mrs. Maggie Alene Wells Hale was born Nov. 30, 1852, married July 5, 1870. She was a mother of twelve children, five of whom survive the death of their mother, of the other seven it may be said: [poem].
Of the seven who are dead, Hugh Wells and Charles Franklin died in infancy; Elizabeth Pearl, Ella Grace and Emma Wells in childhood, and James Lee and Mary Pauline Davis in the prime of young manhood and womanhood.
Those living to mourn the loss of a good mother are: Mrs. Roy Krewson, Pittsburgh, Pa.; William P. Hale Jr., and Charles F. Hale, Osceola; Mrs. Joe H. Holman, Nashville, Tenn., and Miss Emma Evaline, who alone remains in the parental home.
To the bereaved husband and children, the aged and sorrowing mother and the brother, friends and relatives we offer condolence, sympathy and love.
She was a loved and most loving mother, a dutiful thoughtful daughter an affectionate wife. But weary with the burden of grief for those that had gone before, she lay down by the wayside, and using her burden for a pillow, fell into that dreamless sleep that kisses down her eyelids still, and passes to silence a pathetic dust.
She added to the sum of human joy and loving service to those she loved best, and were they to bring a blossom to her grave for every thoughtful act, she would sleep under a wilderness of flowers.
She was buried by the side of her children at Violet Cemetery, Friday, October 1, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, while almost the entire community assembled in sympathy with the bereaved family. A Friend.
