George B. Bowser, a resident of Altoona for almost his entire life, died at 10:54 o'clock this morning at his home, 559 Fifty-sixth street, Roselawn, of a complication of diseases. He has been in poor health for the last ten months but his illness did not assume a serious nature until his return from a hunting trip a little over a week ago. He was born in Bedford county, April 21, 1860, a son of David L. and Catherine Bowser. He was united in marriage with Miss Pernelia Crist of Freedom township forty-five years ago. His wife and four children, Charles E. of Eldorado, William O. of Tyrone, Mrs. Joseph I. Breidenstein and Mrs. G.C. Stultz, both of Altoona, survive; as do his step-mother, Mrs. May Bowser of Claysburg; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Annie Ward of Tyrone, Mrs. C.A. May of Philadelphia, and Frank Bowser of Newry; and the following half-sisters and half-brothers, Mrs. E.W. Keith, of Buffalo, Mrs. Myrtle Slick of Claysburg, Mrs. John Schmittle and Harry Bowser of South Lakemont. Eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. For the past forty-five years he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company working until a short time ago as a wheel moulder. During his most recent years of service with the company he had charge of a storeroom at South Altoona shops. He was a member of the Grace Reformed church, the Junior Order of United American Mechanics and the P.O.S. of A.
