Services for Edyth Marie Cox, 86, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Indian Hills Church of God. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Cox died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1917, in St. Paul, Kan., the daughter of Jason and Ida Alice (Gilbert) Sheffer. She moved in 1937 to Lawrence from Olathe. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker. She was a member of Indian Hills Church of God, Christian Women's Club, Kaw Valley Homemaker's Unit, Gideons and Douglas County Extension, from which she received the 50-year award. She married Clifford A. Cox on June 5, 1937, in Olathe. He died in August 1984. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Enbody, Longview, Wash., and Linda Knabe, Eudora; a son, Alan Cox, Gilbert, Iowa; a sister, Madeline Heim, Lawrence; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to Indian Hills Church of God or the Van Fund at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, sent in care of the mortuary.
