Graveside services for Winford B. Jones, 91, of Metropolis were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 1997, at Reevesville Cemetery in Reevesville with the Rev. Louie Stratemeyer officiating.
Mr. Jones died at 3:33 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 1997, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3847. He attended Dixon Springs United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 65 years, Winifred Jones; one son, Daniel Jones of Metropolis; one grandchild, Faith Amber Jones of Metropolis; one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Webster and Betty (Enoch) Jones; three sisters and five brothers.
