From Hazleton PA Newspaper, Sept. 22, 1936:
Christian C. Ahlborn, 84, one of Hazleton's pioneer residents, who located in Harrisburg eighteen months ago, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence E. Shaver, 1883 Herr street, Harrisburg, at 12:20 am yesterday after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Ahlborn came to America in November, 1869, at the age of 17 years from Hanover, Germany, and resided here until the death of his second wife, formerly Mrs. Caroline Sipple, in April, 1935. He worked in and around the Laurel Hill mines for 56 years. Mr. Ahlborn married Miss Mary Nelk in 1878, and nine children were born of this union, two of whom are still living. Following the death of his first wife in 1908, Mr. Ahlborn was re-married to Mrs. Sipple in 1913. Mr. Ahlborn was a member of the Grace Reformed church and sang in the choir there for 40 years. He was also a member of the Concordia Singing Society of this city for the same length of time.

Besides Mrs. Shaver, formerly Miss Catherine Ahlborn, a son survives, August A. Ahlborn of Harrisburg. A sister, Mrs. R. Yeager of this city, also survives.

The funeral will be held at the Grebey funeral home in this city at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Toennes and Rev. Gebhardt of the Grace Reformed Church officiating. Interment will be in the Vine street cemetery.
