Mr. Albert "Al" Mintz, 84, of Brownsville formerly of Corsicana passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville, Texas.

He was born March 30, 1931 in Blackjack, Texas to Thomas Pinkney Mintz and Mae (nee) Graham Mintz.


He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service joining at the age of 17. He served in Guam, Hawaii, Japan, and was stationed at different military bases from California to Maryland, which is how he met the love of his life Letta "Jane" Thomas in 1950. No matter where they were stationed they always came home to Corsicana for family Christmases. After retiring he worked at several jobs before owning his own Gulf Service Station at the corner of 7th and 7th. After closing the service station he worked at Shook Tire Company and Guardian Glass, but his real love was traveling. After he retired in 1993 he and Jane bought and RV and traveled the United States. But he always came back to Corsicana for Christmas, after Jane passed away in 2005, he retired to Brownsville where he met the next love of his life, Estella Robles.


He was preceded in death his parents, wife, Jane; son-in-laws, Marvin Jones and Richard Knecht; brother-in-law, Hyrum Moreau and two nephews, Lloyd Moreau and James Moreau.


He is survived by his daughters, Linda Jones of Ennis, Darline and husband Bill Ratliff of Corsicana, Marie Knecht of Hurst, Tommie and husband Wesley Blue of Corsicana, and Mary and husband Ronald Flatt of Hillsboro; companion, Estella Robles of Brownsville; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; sister, Edith Moreau of Corsicana, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
