Helen "Pat" Lamb Hunt, 84, of Amherst passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2015, at Fairmont Crossing. Born in Amherst County, February 16, 1931, Helen was the daughter of the late William Ellis Lamb, Sr. and Mary Wood Lamb. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William E. Lamb, Jr. and two special nieces, Lynn Shrader Sale and Allison Lamb Lawrence.Helen was retired after many years of employment with Drummonds Grocery in Amherst. She was also a faithful member of Amherst Baptist Church and the Ruth Class. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and for making thousands of the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fairmont Crossing for taking such loving and wonderful care of Helen for the last four years.Surviving are her husband, Eugene R. Hunt of Amherst; sons, Larry E. Hunt and wife, LuAnn of Amherst and Robert R. Hunt and wife, Angelia of Madison Heights; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Lucy Shrader and husband, Granville of Amherst; and her sister-in-law, Joan Lamb of Midland, Texas.The family will receive friends at Amherst Baptist Church, 226 Lexington Turnpike, Amherst, from 10 until 11 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at Amherst Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Clay officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amherst Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 494, Amherst, VA, 24521.
