James Edwards of Lafayette died Saturday [11-29-1919] and was buried Monday. He had a number of relatives here and has visited them often.

Lafayette, Ind.
His grandfather's name was William Edwards. He came to Indiana from Sarah Co., North Carolina, in Green County. He had four sons and three daughters; their names being James, William, Harden, George, Charlotte, Nancy and Moren. His father's name was William, who came with the family from North Carolina and located in Green County, Ind. He had seven sons and two daughter; their names were John D., Oliver, William, James, George, Harden, Francis M., Rebecca and Parmelia J. He moved to Boone Co., Ind., in 1830, and died in 1885.

The subject of this sketch was born Oct 27, 1832, and lived in Boone County until he was 17 years of age. He moved to Woodford County, Illinois, in 1850; resided there until 1866, when he returned to Boone County, Indiana, living there until 1881, when he moved to Tippecanoe County, Ind. where he now resides. He was married twice: first in 1853 to Martha J. Weaver. Four children by his first wife; three of whom are now living. Second marriage in 1866, to Jemima [Canaday] Grandstaff. Five children were born unto this union, who with his wife are living.

He enlisted 13 Sep 1861, as private in Co ------, 11th Illinois Cavalry; honorably discharged Oct 12, 1865. Four years and one month service. Never wounded.
