Avery Franklin Byrd, Sr.

Avery Franklin Byrd, Sr. 71 of 806 Monroe Ave., Pulaski, Va. died Saturday night, September 6, 2008, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Pulaski on November 30, 1936 and was the son of the late Amos Franklin Byrd and Flora Alice Manual Byrd. He was also preceded in death by four brothers. John Leonard Byrd, Glenn Edward Byrd Richard Darnell Byrd and Gene Byrd. He was a retired employee of Lynchburg Foundry, Radford.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Byrd, Pulaski; daughters and sons-in-law; Mary & Charles Talbert, Dublin; Rose and Alvin Perdue, Pulaski; Elsie & Dean Rose, Nevada; sons and daughters-in-law; Avery F. Byrd, Jr., Cedar Bluff, Va., Mark Byrd, Mt. Airy, N.C., Steve and Connie Byrd, Pulaski; Glenn & Dora Byrd, Pulaski; Walter Clarence & Donna Clark, NC; sister Alice Marie Farmer, Pulaski; brothers: Ronald Byrd, Galax; Donald Byrd Ft Chiswell; Garnett Byrd, Pulaski; Bobby Byrd, Dublin; Leroy Byrd, Atlanta Ga.; Henry Arnold Byrd, Pulaski; 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Donald Byrd and the Rev. Dan Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Monday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Arrangement by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski
