Leo Lynch, 72, of Highmore, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Highmore Healthcare Center.

Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Highmore, directed by Luze Funeral Home in Highmore.

Leo Eugene Lynch was born on May 9, 1934, to Leo L. and Florence (Kelley) Lynch in Eau Claire, Wis. He attended country school and later attended high school in Polo. Leo transferred his senior year to Highmore High School. Following graduation, he was employed at Farmer's Union. Leo later worked at the city liquor store.

Leo was a member of the National Rifleman's Club and enjoyed repairing rifles. He made beautiful wood carvings and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his brother, Lawrence (Shirley) Lynch of Highmore; his sister, Patricia (Dominic) Calvetti of Rapid City; two stepsisters, Katherine Ortmeier and Marllys Cermak; two stepbrothers, Kenneth Abernathy and George Abernathy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo L. and Florence Lynch; brother, Raphael Lynch; sister, Guen Etta Axtmann; one stepsister, Charlotte Roalstad; two stepbrothers, John Abernathy and Joseph Abernathy; and one nephew, Eric Axtmann.
