CHAPMAN, James Q. - 2634 Swayze, age 91, died Saturday, April 21, 1984, at the residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, April 24, 1984, at Oak Park United Methodist Church, 2125 N. Saginaw St., Rev. J. Chester Stubbs officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Fund or Oak Park United Methodist Church. Mr. Chapman was born October 4, 1892, in Oden, Arkansas and had resided in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Flint in 1939. He married Tressa F. Johnson, July 1, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men's Club. Mr. Chapman was employed as a Frame Mechanic by Summerfield Chevrolet and retired from Lippincott Motor Sales in 1960. He also worked during retirement for Bruno Frame Service and Maple's Collision. Surviving are; wife, Tressa F.; son, Caylos Chapman and wife Mary of Texas; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Douglas Brownrigg of Pinconning, Marjorie and Charles Mueller of Linden, Beth and Gary Oliver of Flint and Cheryl and Paul Barnes of Livonia; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles I. and Timothey Chapman of Oklahoma; 5 sisters, Hattie Cox of California, Nancy Hamilton, Dimples Goss, Fern Gosvenor and Prudence Hill, all of Oklahoma; many nephews and nieces including Mrs. Ruby Collins of Dtroit. Mr Chapman was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas and Peter; sisters, Addie, Goldia and Alta and a grandson, Jerome Hart Oliver.

James' son Caylos Wendel Chapman was from his first marriage to Anna Permelia Cowger in Joy, Clay County, TX, on 4/18/1914. They divorced in the 1920s.
