age:33 yrs.

Re-interred from Michel BC on 13 Sep 1909.

From the Fernie Ledger, January 10, 1906, per UBC Library, British Columbia Historical Newspapers website:
Death of Michel Postmaster.

Albert Gammage, postmaster at Michel, brother of Mr, Walter Gammage of this city, died at Michel last Thursday night from the effects of a complication of appendicitis and peritonitis. Dr. McSorley performed an operation but it was found that owing to the presence of peritonitis his case was hopeless. He was taken sick on New Year's day.

Mr. Gammage was a pioneer coming ahead of the railroad and had been postmaster at Michel two years. He was born in England thirty-three years ago. He had been married a little more than a year to a young lady of Owen Sound where he had resided previous to his coming west.

Scott & Ross embalmed the body and it was buried at Michel on Monday. Rev. Bartlett of Christ church conducting the service. Mr. Gammage was a member of the ancient Order of Foresters. Much sympathy is felt for the young widow left alone so soon in her new western home.

(Note the same article was republished in The Prospector (Cranbrook BC), January 13, 1906).

A city of Vancouver archive item in the Gammage family collection states his widow (the former Martha E. Bridgett) was appointed postmaster in Michel later in 1906.

In May of 1909 a local news column in The District Ledger reported that Mrs. Gammage, the postmistress from Michel, paid a visit to Fernie.

Note: Interred 08 Jan 1906.
