Sarah Gardner Barnicle was born in Center County, PA. She married Samuel B. Barnicle in 1844 and they had ten children, 5 sons and 5 daughters. They moved to Crawford County around 1853 in covered wagons and remained in the area until their death. She lived in their home for over 50 years. Sarah died at the age of 103 in Elizabeth's home near Barnicle Chapel.
