Grover J. Ahrens, of Bettendorf, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2006, at Bettendorf Healthcare, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2006, 2:30 p.m., at Runge Mortuary with visitation at noon until service time. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Grover James Ahrens was born February 1, 1921, in rural Cedar County, Iowa, the son of Walter and Hazel (Fell) Ahrens. He was united in marriage to Etta F. Williams on July 3, 1943, in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 13, 1989. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he farmed with his wife near New Liberty for over 34 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge #28, Davenport, and a 40 year member of the American Legion #353, Dixon.

Surviving are one sister, Patricia Starr of Rock Island, IL; two brothers, Ellis Ahrens of New Liberty, and Gene Ahrens of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers, George, Hubert and Robert.
