Mrs. Leila Stogner Ghent Christopher, 84, of Fort Lawn, widow of George H. Christopher, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her home. She was born April 27, 1930 in Kershaw, a daughter of the late Oscar Marion Stogner and Leila Mae Pate Stogner. Mrs. Christopher was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church and her purpose in life was to serve the Lord. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Christopher attended Connie Maxwell Schools. She loved spending time with her family. In her pastime, she loved to garden and help care for others.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Christopher will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 2 pm at Fort Lawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Linderman and Brother Ted Hodges officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Christopher is survived by three sons, Chuck Nesbit of Marietta, GA, Samuel G. Ghent and Marvin T. Ghent and his wife Sheryl all of Great Falls; three daughters, Joyce E. Sumner of Fort Lawn, Deborah Sistare and her husband Jimmy of Lancaster and Rebecca G. Adams of Fort Lawn; a brother, Oscar “Buck” Stogner of Lancaster; a sister, Ovedia Love Griffin of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Davey K. Ghent; and a sister, Doris S. Faulkenberry.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 5351 Emmanuel Road, Fort Lawn, SC.
