Susan Ann (Allen) Bartlett was born on February 28, 1856 in Hickman County, Tennessee, the daughter of William Thomas "W T" Allen (1826–1911) and Mary Paralee "Birdie" (Beasley) Allen (1831–1910).

Susan was married 1st on December 20, 1876 in Hickman County to Samuel Walter Bartlett (ca 1855– ). She was married 2nd on November 12, 1905 in Hickman County as the 2nd wife of James Robert "Bud" Clark (13 Jun 1846-10 Oct 1926) {although at the time of the 1920 census, Susan was listed as widow Susan Anne Bartlett and living with her married son Claude. And, both Susan's Death Certificate and her obituary have her surname as Bartlett}.

Living with her daughter Mrs J A Martin of 1007 17th Avenue South, Nashville, Susan was 85 years old and a widow when she died at home of pneumonia on April 5, 1941 after being ill for four months.

Survivors included daughters Mrs J A Martin and Mrs J C Lawson, sons T A Bartlett at Centerville, Tennessee, Claude L Bartlett in White House, Tennessee and Clyde Bartlett of Nashville and sisters Mrs J A Norwoord and Mrs E C Speight of Nashville.

Funeral Services were held on April 7th at Belmont Avenue Church of Christ, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
