Elmer was a 50-year member of the Masons, the Easter Star and The Grange. Throughout his life he was active in various agricultural organizations including 4-H, Young Farmers and the Farm Bureau. He served as advisor to Demolay and Rainbow Girls.
He began as a farmer in 1936 when he graduated from High School and he spent many years as a livestock buyer. In 1951, he built his own home on Kings Mills Road in Mason, where he and his family resided until 1980. In 1980, he retired from Kahn's to a small farm in Wilmington and another house that he built for himself.
He was a member of the Mason Presbyterian Church and an Ordained Elder. Later, he joined the Sharon Methodist Church near Wilmington.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 34 years, Evelyn K. (Cammett) Landen. He is also survived by his children Everett and Barbara Landen of Cincinnati, Bob and Mary Ann McDonald of Louisville, John and Trish Cammett of Cincinnati, Betty and Bradford Oelman of Washington D.C., Ralph and Veneda Cammett of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Mitchel and Jancie Bonham of Mason and Bill and Mary Cammett of Marblehead, Massachusetts. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death in 1963 by his first wife, Esther (nee Hoff) Landen
Visitation will be held at Shorten-Ryan Funeral Home, Mason, Ohio, on Thursday September 13, 2001, from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Friday, September 14, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, following the service.
