Nancy O'Conner - Born 1840
History of Nancy's Mother - Mary Elvira Young:
Mary Elvira Young and Lawrence O'Conner were married in 1840 in Izard County, Arkansas, when she was 16 years old. And they had a baby daughter, Nancy O'Conner, born that same year. The child was probably named after her Aunt, Nancy Caroline Young, Mary's older sister..
The Youngs and Teagues were apparently friends while they were all living in Kentucky, then may have all traveled together to Arkansas, because John Teague and Mary were also married in Kentucky, and their 4th child, Redden Teague was born in Jackson Co. Arkansas in 1818..
Peter and Elizabeth Young may have arrived in Arkansas earlier, but the first date I have on them actually being there is, Charlotte, their youngest was born in 1832 in Arkansas, and all six of their children were married there beginning with Margaret and George Risner in 1832. All in Izard/Jackson County..
Mary's First Husband and the Father of Nancy:
Lawrence O'Conner was born 1820 in Ireland, and from all indication, returned there for a time, as he was listed as an immigrant arriving on a ship named the Princeton from Liverpool England, arriving in New York Jan 31, 1849..
This may have been due to a divorce between the two of them, he then was listed as an enlisted man in the Civil War, serving in the 31st Indiana Infantry..
Meanwhile, Mary and John Joiner Teague married about 1847 in Izard County, Arkansas, because both she and Nancy, age 7 were listed in the household with her mother and J.J. on the 1850 census living in Izard County, Arkansas .
Then in 1860 Nancy is listed as Nancy McDaniel, seamstress, and has a 4 year old son named William McDaniel living in the household of her mother and J.J. Teague..
The only other thing I have been able to find is a record of a Nancy McDaniel living in Indian Territory in 1900. The document stated that Nancy had given birth to 5 children, but only one had survived.
Mary Elvira O'Conner filed for a Veteran's Pension in 1884, which was eleven years prior to the death of John J, who had also served in the Civil War. Both John Teague, and a W.S Teague were prisioners of war held in Fayette Co. Tenn. .
However, she may have needed all the help she could get after having given birth to 14 children!.
