Funeral services were held Thursday for former Rudy businessman Cy Carney Sr., 95, of Fayetteville, who died Tuesday, December 21, 1993, at a Fayetteville hospital.

Services were held at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel of Fayetteville with burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Carney formerly ran a general store in Rudy and a television cable company in Van Buren. He was a 50 year member of the Lions Club, member of UCT, past president of Arkansas LP Gas Association and member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church.

He was the retired owner of Cy Carney Appliance and LP Gas of Fayetteville. He built Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Fayetteville and was involved in the management and various real estate and stock holdings.

The Carney Endowment was established in 1965 at the University of Arkansas and has contributed nearly 200 student scholarships to the College of Agriculture and Home Economics.

He was the widower of Littie Comstock Carney.

Survivors include a daughter Kathryn; a son; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
