She was born Jan. 28, 1947 in Grenada, Miss. to Lester Mitchell and Josephine Sullivan Mitchell. She was a retired AT&T and BellSouth Telephone operator along with being a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, CWA and the Alabama chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Marie was a member of Shop Springs Baptist Church and a former member of Hardy Baptist Church in Hardy where she served as a Sunday school teacher and church clerk.
She is survived by one daughter and her husband, one grandson, two Mitchell brothers and their wives, two Sanders brothers, two sisters and their husbands
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Park Lacy.
There will be a visitation for Mrs. Lacy at Garner-Harper Funeral Home in Grenada, Miss. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 with a memorial service immediately afterwards. A private inurnment at Smith Cemetery in Cascilla will follow.
