Taken from the hand-written copy of the “Family of Matthias Rittenhouse” by Joseph Heebner, Worcester, Pa., page 9:
“ Hannah Evans married Dr. William Smith of Trappe, Montgomery County, Pa. No Issue. With this family Eleanor Evans, Hannah’s mother, spent the latter part of her life and died about 1809. In February, 1816, Mrs. Smith was taken with typhus pleurisy. A Miss Armstrong was called to watch over the sick bed of Mrs. Smith. In a few days the Doctor was also sick, and next Miss Armstrong became ill. All three died within a space of two weeks.”
