Finis Christian (Chris) Burton, 68, of Route 2, Huntsville, died about 3:30 o'clock this morning at Woodland Hospital, where he had been hospitalized one day.
Born near Higbee, he lived most of his life in the Moberly-Higbee area. A son of Arthur Terrill and Lizzie Pyle Burton, he was a retired employee of the Cities Services Oil Company in Moberly. In recent years, he had been a stockman and farmer. Mr. Burton was a member of the Christian Church, a past master of the Moberly Masonic Lodge No. 344 and a past patron of the of the Higbee Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, Charissa; one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Chris Ann) Bowers, Overland Park, Kan.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Jim Riley, Madison; three sisters, Mrs. Edythe Magruder, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. V.H. (Bee) Spanswick, Kansas City, and Mrs. L.J. (Nell) Welch, Tulsa, Okla.
The body is at Cater Funeral Home, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
A masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday by the Masonic Lodge. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.
