Leah graduated from Monrovia High School in 1972 and belonged to the Job’s Daughters, Bethel 99 in Plainfield, where she served as a member of honor. Leah previously worked for Maplehurst Bakery, Caldwell Realty, Mahern Associates, Graves Realty and Cattanach Realty. Most recently, she was a self-employed realtor for the past 20 years at Elite Appraisals. She moved to Florida with Bill, the love of her life, where he took good care of her after being diagnosed with cancer. She was blessed to come back home in Indiana and spend her last years with family and seven grandchildren, with whom she truly enjoyed being around. Leah’s stubborn, strong will and determination was able to shine over her illness on Sunday evening, where friends and family gathered to celebrate her life and friendship.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Illg.
Survivors include her son, James H.R. Carter, Jr. (wife, Lisa Steele) of Mooresville; daughter, Kelly J. Carter of Plainfield; sister, Patty Greene (husband, Carl) of Rockville; brother, Albert Illg, III of Mooresville; grandchildren, Christopher, Angel, Austin, Kassy, Trinity, Dylan and Bekkah; her special friend and loving companion, Bill White of Hollywood, Florida.
At 12 Noon, on Monday, March 16, 2015, The Job’s Daughters will conduct a Living Cross Ceremony, at the Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, with visitation an hour prior. Sarah Hadley Allen will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery, Mooresville. In lieu of flowers, and per Leah’s requests memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry in care of the Monrovia Christian Church, 710 Gordon Road, Monrovia IN 46157.
