BARNWELL - Jean Fickling Still, 83, died January 30, 2006, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 2, in Blackville Cemetery, Blackville, S.C. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Still was the daughter of the late Clarence Julian Fickling and Maude Hair Fickling and the loving stepdaughter of Annie Dodenhoff Hair Fickling. She was born October 9, 1922, in Blackville, S.C., and was a graduate of Blackville High School. She attended both Winthrop College and the Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing. Her husband of 46 years, Aiken Anderson Still Jr., died in 1989.

Survivors include a brother, Robert B. Fickling and wife, Louise, of Edisto Island; three children: Aiken Anderson Still, III "Andy" and wife, Emily, of Folly Beach, Julianne Still Thrift and husband, Ashley, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Charlotte Still Noble and husband, Robert, of Cleveland, Ohio. She also is survived by six grandchildren: Aiken "Ike", Eliza and Anderson Still; Kimberly Still Rigney, Lindsay Thrift Politi and Laura Still Thrift; and two stepgrandchildren, Vicki and Faith Noble.

Mrs. Still was a longtime resident of Barnwell County and lived on Hilton Head Island, S.C., in the 1970s and 1980s, and in Winston-Salem, N.C., in her last years.

She lived a life of honor, faith and devotion to her family and her God.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Salem Academy & College, P.O. Box 10548, Winston-Salem, NC 27108.

Folk Funeral Home in Williston, S.C., is in charge of arrangements. 803-266-3434.
