Max LeRoy Wilson, “Big Daddy”, age 69, passed away in Evanston, WY., September 2, 2013 at Rocky Mountain Care Center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on December 16, 1943 in Evanston, Wyoming, to Frank Clyde and Iva Eunice Hayward Wilson. In 1967 Max was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served in the Vietnam War.
Upon returning from the service, Max met and married his sweetheart, Patricia Mae Burleigh on March 21, 1971. He has four children, Zane (Kimberly) Kennedy of Evanston, WY.; Courtney (Mark) Satterthwaite, of Randolph, UT.; Carey (Larry) Putnam, of Evanston, WY.; and Spence Wilson of Randolph, UT. He also has eight grandchildren.
He lived his entire life in Randolph, UT. Where he raised a family that he was very proud and protective of. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at the P & M Coal Mine for thirty plus years. Max was a very meticulous man and took great pride in his ability to keep things neat and clean. He had a great talent and once he got an idea or a plan in his head, he worked at it until he finished it the way he wanted it to be. He had a sense of humor that was contagious. He enjoyed telling jokes, stories and trying to get the best of his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering in his shop. He was well known for his “Horseshoe Hangout” and for many years he welcomed all who came to put their brand and a horseshoe on his wall.
“Big Daddy” left behind a great legacy. He was well known by many. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Crandall Funeral home on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 12:00 Noon, at the Randolph L.D.S. Chapel. Interment will follow services at the Randolph Cemetery, with military honors.
