She was born in Austin, Texas, to the late Charles and Viola Bethel. She married Bruce Earl Troutman, Sr. on May 12, 1961, in Austin, Texas, and they shared 52 beautiful years of life together. Ellen worked for the Austin Police Department and a local law firm before joining Bruce in self-employment before retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, who passed in May of 2013.
Survivors include her daughters, Melody Lee Gibson, and Wendy Dawn Cottrell and husband, Jeffery; sons, Bruce Earl Troutman Jr. and wife, Cheryl, and Rick Bowen and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Keeven Gibson and Kacey Gibson; great-grandchild, Treydon Sheffield; sisters, Barbara Hererra and Carol Reid; brother, Leroy Bethel; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
