A native of Kaplan, Louisiana he was a lifelong resident of mid and south county. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and later worked as an inspector at Texaco.
He was survived by his wife, Glenda Blanchard, three sons, Wayne Blanchard and wife Lavern, Robert "Robbie" Blanchard, Craig Blanchard and wife Tammy, two daughters, Judy Biscamp and husband Gene and Suzie Denmon and husband, Darrell, three sisters Jean Bixene, Betty Brown and husband Bill, Bobbie Blum and husband Sonny, twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
