Wesson "Wes" Ludlow Cope, died January 23, 2009, in San Diego, California after an extended illness. Born August 25, 1913, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert John and Ethel Ludlow Cope. He married Glen Frances Elium on January 10, 1938. He was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, two sisters, and three brothers.

Wes was a graduate of West High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Wes was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survived by sister Helen Hanes, and brothers William L. and Alan Cope of Salt Lake City, Utah, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Wes and Fran met while he was playing in the Dorsey band and she was a singer for that same band during the "big band" era. Wes and Fran had no children.

Wes enlisted in the army "for the duration of the war or other emergency" on Sep. 1, 1942 at Camp Haan, Riverside, California, United States, serial number 19058257. His enlistment papers stated he had one year of college. His civilian occupation was listed as "musician and teacher of music."
