James Cash Penney ObitNewspaper Unknown JAMES C. PENNY, SR., DEAD. James C. Penney was born in Caldwell county, Mo., Dec. 29, 1841, and died at his home in Hamilton, Mo.March 22, 1895, after a lingering illness of some time. In 1862 he was united in marriage to Miss Fannie Paxton ofKentucky, who with six children survive to mourn his departure, their six other children having gone before to theland beyond. At the age of nineteen years Mr. Penney connected himself with the "Old School" Baptists and was inthe ministry thirteen years. At a later day he adopted the views of the missionary Baptists. He was one of the bestknown citizens of the community, having spent the last fourteen years in Hamilton. He was a friend and helper toall that was progressive and good. He was known by those who were needy and the afflicted found in him a friend.In his going to his long home the family has lost a loving husband and father, and the community has lost a goodcitizen and friend. The funeral took place Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the family residence, services being conductedby Rev. W. Bilbro and Rev. C.F. Spray. The attendance was one of the largest ever witnessed in Hamilton, friends being present from all parts of thecounty. The floral offerings were very fine being brought from St. Joseph by Mr. Hans Neilson, the florist. The family have the sympathy of the whole community in their sadbereavement.
