David L. Gochenauer, 67, of Dillsburg, passed away Sunday morning, December 19, 2010 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1943 in Carlisle, PA the son of the late Warren Lee and Esther Slusser Gochenauer.

David was a retired Plumber with AmTrakLancaster for 30 years. He was also a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dillsburg; the Brotherhood of Maintenance Workers and a US Army Veteran. Dave was formerly involved with the Dillsburg Boy Scouts and Dillsburg Youth Baseball. He was a avid Civil War historian, having written a book on his family's civil war history entitled ""In the Shadow of His Wings."" He was also a gifted woodworker and woodcarver; loved being with his grandchildren, traveling and reading. He enjoyed Penn State Football, the Baltimore Orioles and any team playing the Yankees.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patsy A. Beam Gochenauer. His sons and daughters-in-law: Joel W. & Robin Gochenauer, of Dillsburg and Joshua L. & Maureen Gochenauer, of East Fallowfield, PA. His daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer Clelland-Speiser and Chad Speiser. His grandchildren: Chad Anthony Speiser, Hannah Marie Rose Speiser and Megan Kathleen Gochenauer. His brothers: Clair Gochenauer, of Carlisle and Daryl Gochenauer, of Mechanicsburg. His sister: Nancy Hornberger, of Mechanicsburg. His granddogs, Macy, Pepper and Molly.

Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, December 22, 2010 at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Goodyear Cemetery, Gardners, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials in David's name be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, Atten: Accounting Dept., 8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD 20785-7223; the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033 or Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 Attn: Gift Processing.
