She was born on December 10, 1926 at rural Nebraska City near the former Minersville area; the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Cisco) Esser. She was one of thirteen children in the family. She attended school and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the class of 1945.
She was united in marriage to Martin Edward Abbott on November 28, 1945 at Hiawatha, KS. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1993.
Lorraine was a housewife and homemaker and also worked at various places including Ocomo Foods, Hested's Department Store and at Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City, NE. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her three children: Mardeena Briley of Percival, IA; Barry Abbott of Nebr. City and Carl Abbott of Nebr. City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to her husband Martin, she was preceded in death by a son Clarence Abbott on July 13, 1969, a son-in-law Larry Briley and siblings: Roy, Clarence, Delbert, Frank, Herbert, Hank, Eugene, Mamie, Mary, Julia, Bernice and Mercedes.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday (March 11) at 2:00 pm. At the Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City; burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gude Mortuary.
Memorials may be given to the Nebr. City Rescue.
