In 1877, Elizabeth Simmons Meadows, died leaving an estate in NC to be divided between her two sisters, Lucretia Simmons and Susannah Simmons Moxley, and three surviving brothers, William, Ozias and Mortimor Simmons who were known to have moved to Georgia and Mississippi before the War Between the States. In 1887, the three surviving brothers were declared legally dead after failing to respond to legal notices for 10 years and the estate was divided between the two sisters, Lucretia Simmons and Susannah Simmons Moxley.
