The funeral of Mrs. Bartholemew Moore, of Slopertown, took place this forenoon and was very largely attended. Deceased was among the oldest residents of Scott County, and had a wide circle of acquaintances and friends. She leaves a family of ten children, besides her husband, and many relatives to mourn her death. The body was buried in St. Marquerite's Cemetery.

Mary Clark Moore was my great-great grandmother. She married Bartholemew Moore about 1853 in the state of New York.
I was always told she was born in Ireland (her headstone shows Native of Yorkshire England), arriving in New York, moving to Canada and then settling in Iowa. She and her husband Bartholemew Moore had ten children. They include John, Daniel, Sarah J., Mathias, Henry, James, Thomas and Catharine. Two possibly died at an early age and are not included.
Bartholemew moved to North Dakota in 1885 and was returning to Scott County, Iowa, when he died at his daughter's residence in Valley Junction, Iowa, on August 12, 1902.
