Leona M. Bond, 87, died at 8:23 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, at Manor Care Health Services South. She was the wife of the late Melvin C. Bond, to whom she was married for 66 years.
Born February 10, 1928, in Dallastown, a daughter of the late Edwin and Helen (Stabley) Rupp.
She was a 1945 graduate of William Penn High School. She was a homemaker, and was retired from Heritage Valley Credit Union. Prior to that worked for American Chain and Cable Company. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the former Second EUB Church.
Mrs. Bond is survived by two sons, Gregory L. Bond and his wife, Debra of York, and Donald R. Bond and his partner, Kevin E.W. Bond of York; one grandson, Matthew P. Bond; her sister-in-law, Virginia "Ginny" Rupp, and her children, Michael Rupp and Barbara Butler, all of York; her brother-in-law, J. Richard "Dick" Bond and his wife, Grace "Cookie" Bond of Denver, Colo.; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard C. "Dick" Rupp.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Paul W. Baughman, officiating. Viewing will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, PA 17403.
The family would like to thank the staff of Manor Care South and Heartland Hospice for the loving care that they provided during Mrs. Bond's final years.
