Jackson, NC - Mrs. Nell Boone Duke age 92 of Jackson, NC died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Weldon, NC.Mrs. Duke was born September 30, 1922 in Northampton County, NC, the daughter of the late John Edward Boone and Lizzy Hasty Boone. She was also predeceased by her husband James Richard “J.R.” Duke and a sister, Mary Boone Lanier Davis.She was an active member of Jackson Baptist Church where she had served in many offices. She and her husband owned and operated Nell’s Department Store in Jackson for many years and she work also at Massey Funeral Home.She is survived by her daughter, Nell Dean Williams and her husband Kenneth. Her son James Richard “Jimmy” Duke. Her grandchildren, Kenny Williams and Bernadette Nicol Duke. Also her sister, Derother Tromans.Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Jackson Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Heitzenrater officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery.The family will receive friends at Jackson Baptist Church, Saturday beginning at 12:30 PM until service time.
