HEREFORD - Funeral services for Guy William Newsom, 68, of 1230 Avenue C, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the First Methodist Church.

The Rev. Clifford Trotter, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Don Davidson of Kings Manor Convalescent Home. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland Funeral Home.

Mr. Newsom died Thursday morning in Deaf Smith County Hospital.

A native of Meadville, Mo., he moved to Hereford in 1939 from Borger. He was a retired farmer and former bank cashier.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; three sons, Carroll of Hereford, Wayne of Fort Morgan, Colo., and John of Homestead, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Bookout of 1220 Milan in Amarillo; a brother, Lee, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. R.B. Glenn of 2014 Teckla in Amarillo and Mrs. H.A. Stelplugh of Meadville, and 12 grandchildren.

Guy Newson [sic] Dies at Hereford, Tex.
Born at Meadville, He Was With Citizens Bank Here.

Guy Newsom, 68, a native of Meadville and a former resident of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly early this morning at his home in Hereford, Tex. Death followed a heart attack suffered at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

Funeral services and burial will be held Saturday in Hereford.

He was born January 29, 1899, at Meadville, the son of J.A. Newsom and Emma (Shore) Newsom. He was reared in Meadville. After his marriage, he resided in Chillicothe and was employed by the Citizens National Bank. Mr. Newsom had lived in Hereford the last 40 years and has had banking and real estate interests.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel (Daniels) Newsom of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Glenn of Amarillo, Tex., and Mrs. Mary Stelplugh of Meadville; a brother, Lee Newsom, Tulsa, Okla.; three sons and a daughter.

Relatives who will be attending the funeral services will be Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Harvey and Mrs. Mary Stelplugh of Meadville and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Daniels of Chillicothe. Mrs. Newsom is a sister of Mrs. Harvey and Mr. Daniels.
