MARTHA A. SMITH HUGGINS

Martha was the daughter of John (Jack Dempsey) Smith and Mary Emeline Huckaby b. 1818, Wilkes County, Georgia d. 1854.

Martha married Jasper A. Huggins, April 13, 1868. Jasper and Martha made their home in the Social Springs Community in Red River Parish, Louisiana. Their property was part of the homestead owned by Jasper's father, Daniel Huggins and his wife, Sally Turluck Huggins.

Jasper and Martha had ten children they are:
1. Arthur Jackson 2. Edgar Ardene 3. Willie Newton 4. Nora Letisia 5. Cornelia (Nelia) 6. George Wilton 7. Madie Ardina 8. Sarah Mildred Elizabeth 9. Mattie Lula 10. Susie A. Della.

Martha died, November 14, 1889. of pneumonia when Della was almost five years old. Martha had become deaf.
